Victims and witnesses of crime urged to tell their story

Derek Williamson from CJI and Susan Reid, of Victim Support Northern Ireland are urging victims and witnesses of crime to tell their story in order to help improve the experience of others in the future before the CJI victims and witnesses survey ends on 31 October 2010.  

CJI launched its survey for victims and witnesses of crime on 20 September and we are delighted with the response we have had so far,” said Derek.

 

“We are pleased that so many victims and witnesses of crime have taken the time to complete our survey since it commenced on 20 September 2010 either on line or by hand and to share their positive and negative experiences in order to try and improve the experience of others who come into contact with the police, the prosecution service and the courts in the future,” he said.

 

“But with less that two weeks left to go, we believe that there are people who have been victims or witnesses of crime in the last three years who have not yet taken part in the survey whose experience would be invaluable in helping to inform the recommendations we make as a result of this inspection.

 

“I would urge anyone who has not yet  had an opportunity to complete this confidential survey by logging onto the homepage of CJI’s website www.cjini.org or by telephoning our office on 028 90 258000 or by writing to CJI directly at 6th Floor, 14 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7BA, to so before the 31 October so that we hear and can learn from their experience,” concluded Derek.
