Follow-Up Reviews
Between one and two years after the report has been published CJI will return to the organisation and carry out research to check on progress towards the agency’s action plan or CJI’s recommendations.
Inspectors will review the original inspection report and carry out research to assess the progress made towards completing either the agency’s action plan or carrying forward CJI’s recommendations.
A review report will then be drafted and shared internally with CJI’s inspection and management team before being forwarded to the inspected organisation for factual accuracy checks and comment.
Once the review is agreed and it is published the action plan will either be signed off as completed or CJI may decide to return to the agency after a period of time to review progress against incomplete actions.
Action Plan Reviews/Inspection Follow-Up Reviews are not required to be presented to the Houses of Parliament. Instead, they are published electronically on this website and a summary of the findings of the various reviews is included in the Inspectorate’s Annual Report.
