Prison Service CJI to undertake review of the use of Care and Supervision Units by the N.I. Prison Service 11/11/2020 The Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland, Jacqui Durkin, has today (11 November) announced Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) is to undertake a review of the use of Care and Supervision Units by the Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS). “I can confirm that a request to review the use of Care and Supervision Units by the Northern Ireland Prison Service has been received from the Minister of Justice. I have agreed to incorporate this request within the scheduled CJI inspection programme for this year and as part of delivering our responsibilities as a member of the UK National Preventive Mechanism (NPM),” said Ms Durkin. Preliminary discussions have commenced including with our partners in the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA).
