Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) has published its Annual Report and Accounts for 2007-08.

The report, which was approved by the Comptroller and Auditor General of the National Audit Office, was placed before the Houses of Parliament today (4 December).

It tracked the progress of the Inspectorate during the last financial year, and provides a brief overview of the work carried out and published by CJI during 2007-08.

It also revealed that the Inspectorate had improved its performance by achieving 10 of its 14 corporate targets for the last financial year.

“I am delighted to have been able to submit this report to Parliament and place on record the valuable work carried out by CJI during the course of the 2007-08 financial year,” said Brendan McGuigan, CJI’s Chief Executive and Accounting Officer.

“I am also pleased to see the Inspectorate secure for the fourth time a clean certificate from the Comptroller and Auditor General, who recorded that he had no observations to make in relation to the financial statements supplied to him,” said Mr McGuigan.
