Brendan McGuigan to remain as CJI Chief Inspector

Brendan McGuigan CBE is to continue as Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland for a further 12 months.


Brendan-Pic-27_11_2018.jpgSpeaking after the extension of his term of office was announced by Peter May, Permanent Secretary, Department of Justice, Mr McGuigan said he was both honoured and pleased to have been asked to continue in the role.

I believe Criminal Justice Inspection makes a valuable contribution to the development of the justice system and I am pleased to be able to continue as the head of the organisation working alongside a team of dedicated and talented staff. I look forward to continuing to oversee the delivery of a challenging and meaningful Inspection programme which informs the public and is of benefit to the justice organisations,” said Mr McGuigan.

Mr McGuigan will also continue to oversee the work of the Office of the Prisoner Ombudsman for Northern Ireland until a new Ombudsman is appointed.
