Cyber crime is a relatively recent phenomenon, the prevalence of which increased markedly in recent years. It is a matter of public concern and is regularly the subject of local and national news reports. Criminal Justice Inspectors have completed an inspection of how the criminal justice system deals with cyber crime in Northern Ireland and will publish their findings when a new Minister of Justice is appointed.
