Inspection indicated further work required on PSNI Training Strategy

30/03/2010
An inspection of the PSNI’s Training Strategy carried out by CJI has urged the Police Service to link its policy more closely with the priorities identified in the Northern Ireland Policing Plan. View Report. View Press release.

The inspection report indicated the Inspectorate had identified a number of gaps in the strategy and its approach to training and development within the PSNI.  Speaking following the publication of the report, CJI’s Deputy Chief Inspector Brendan McGuigan said the training strategy should drive and govern all training across the Police Service- not just the training provided at the Police College. As a result of the inspection, CJI has made 13 recommendations aimed at strengthening the policy document.
